The regulators announced a supervisory information-sharing framework. The SEC says it will process new and pending applications from AMF-supervised asset managers under that arrangement.

What the primary record establishes

On 20 October 2026, the SEC and France’s AMF announced a memorandum covering consultation and information-sharing in supervising certain investment advisers, investment companies and investment service providers operating across the two markets. The SEC says the arrangement facilitates its registration and supervision of AMF-supervised asset managers seeking US investment-adviser business. It will process new and pending applications in light of the agreement. Processing an application is not the same event as granting that applicant registration. What the distinction changes

For a cross-border brokerage group, the useful question is which legal entity and service fall within the relevant framework. The existence of cooperation between authorities does not make every affiliate, activity or customer relationship interchangeable.

A promotional statement that a French firm now automatically has US permission would go beyond the announcement. Equally, a supervisory cooperation agreement should not be described as a merger of regulators or a replacement for each market’s requirements.

What to check before drawing a conclusion

Check the applicant’s actual status in the appropriate official register and identify the services it proposes to provide. Keep submitted, pending and granted stages separate. For a group structure, match the contracting entity rather than relying on the brand shared by several companies.

WFN interprets the MOU as a concrete change to the announced cooperation and application-processing framework. It does not certify any firm’s current authorisation, describe unpublished registration decisions or infer that a particular customer can receive every service across borders.
