The agenda highlights financial responsibility, trading oversight, AML and resilience. Priorities guide supervision rather than granting individual approval.

What the primary record establishes

The SEC announced its fiscal-year 2027 examination priorities on 23 October 2026. They identify risk areas for entities within the agency’s supervisory program. SEC — 2027 Examination Priorities, 23 October 2026 ↗

The themes include broker-dealer financial responsibility, trading practices, supervision, anti-money laundering, customer-information protection, cyber resilience and tokenization. The list is non-exhaustive and may be adjusted. SEC — 2027 Examination Priorities, 23 October 2026 ↗

What the distinction changes

A brokerage can use this agenda to organize an existing-control review: name the process owner, locate operational evidence and define escalation when a control fails.

Naming a subject in an examination agenda does not itself create a new rule. Omitting a subject does not remove duties established elsewhere or prevent examination.

What to check before drawing a conclusion

Investors should not read priorities as approval of a particular firm. The announcement neither grants registration nor certifies solvency or establishes an individual violation.

A practical assessment must connect each theme to the entity’s actual activities and applicable duties. Written policies, evidence of execution and resolution of problems should be examined together.
