Session maps are useful orientation, not trading schedules. The same currency pair can behave differently as counterparties, local news and market conditions change through the day.

Follow the evidence

Trace how the event could reach markets, then inspect a competing explanation.

Compare explanations

Switch lenses to see what each account explains—and what remains uncertain.

Participation patterns are a starting point for comparison

Regional currencies may draw more attention during local business hours, and overlapping centres can bring more participants. That does not mean every pair becomes more liquid or that every quote improves at the same time. Compare spreads, update frequency and execution outcomes for the exact instrument and broker. A session name is not a substitute for observations from the venue where an order would be handled.

FX trades across time zones, with activity that shifts by hour

The foreign-exchange market is largely over the counter. Activity passes between financial centres as their working days overlap, while electronic venues keep prices available through most of the business week.

Session boundaries are conventions, not switches. Daylight-saving changes, holidays and local market hours can move familiar overlap windows, so convert times for the date and location you are actually studying.

Check the event and the market behind the label

Ask whether a central-bank decision, data release, holiday or local close is changing the normal pattern. Thin conditions can occur inside a busy session, and fast conditions can arrive outside the hours a generic chart highlights.

Session context can help organise research. It cannot identify a profitable entry or predict a pair’s next direction; use it to frame what to measure and what could invalidate an explanation.
